Everything you need to know about Axosoft

Axosoft is a comprehensive project management suite which offers a lot of features for managing your web projects.

In this blog post I’m going to show you everything you need to know about Axosoft and how you can be more productive by getting more out of Axosoft.

What is Axosoft?

Axosoft claims that it offers everything you need in terms of agile project management. It is a collaboration and project management tool to plan, development, review, and ship tasks.

From customer support, to project planning, to bug tracking. It offers a lot of core features. You can watch the video below to get a first understanding.

From my point of view, Axosoft can be compared to other project tracking tools such as Atlassian JIRA or Redmine. Axosoft is available as a hosted or on-premise software.

Is it Axosoft or OnTime?

Axosoft wasn’t always known as “Axosoft”. Its original name is OnTime and sometimes you can still find the old name on the web.

What are the use cases?

Axosoft is a comprehensive, feature-rich suite. Its main target group is software development companies managing various products and projects.

Major features of its software solution include the following use cases:

  • Project tracking
  • Bug tracking
  • Kanban boards
  • wiki
  • Help Desk
  • Project reporting
  • Data visualization

Getting started with Axosoft

Getting started with Axosoft is easy. It offers a 14-day free trial which allows you to try out all features. Simply sign up for free. (No credit card required.)

After signing up, you’ll receive a custom URL for managing your projects directly in your browser. A pretty smooth experience.

Its dashboards are organized around tabs. In the main tab, you’ll see various sections (which might be a bit overwhelming in the first place).

  • Organize Panel: The Organize Panel defines the structure of all your projects. Depending on your filters in the organize panel, you’ll see different things in the workspace.
  • Work Space: This is the place where you create and manage all the tasks and items you and your team work on.
  • Details Panel: The details panel provides some further information on the selected item.

You can create multiple tabs and adjust the view of your dashboard.

Axosoft Wiki as a knowledge base.

Axosoft can not only be used as a project tracking tool, but also as your core knowledge base. With the Wiki workspace, you can keep all your project information in one central place.

No matter if you want to store new ideas, design guidelines or tutorials. The Wiki is pretty straight forward.

Axosoft for help desk & customer care

Another useful feature is its help desk. Its main benefit is the project planning of software development projects. In addition, it offers some neat customer support features as well.

Axosoft Help Desk lets you convert customer support emails into tickets. Your team can then resolve these tickets so that your customer support agent has an easier time to follow up with certain issues and tasks.

You can even integrate your inbox with the available email integrations.

Axosoft for bug tracking.

Managing customer support requests in one place is a great thing to do.
Another core feature is its built-in ability for bug tracking. It is a fully fledged bug tracking tool for your software development team.

Especially with its release planner, you can ensure that your team stays on track.

I also recommend making use of the available bug tracking integration from Usersnap.

Once you’ve connected Usersnap, you can receive visual bug reports and screenshots directly in your Axosoft projects.

Release planning with Axosoft

Most software development teams are pursuing an agile approach. With the release planner, Axosoft takes that into account.

The release planner lets you plan, organize, and monitor your development sprints.

Best Axosoft integrations?

It not only offers a feature-rich project management suite but also lets you integrate its software with tools you might already use.

By integrating Axosoft with other third party tools you can integrate the project management tool even deeper in your software development team.

Besides the already mentioned integrations, I’d recommend the following ones:

  • Dynamic Gantt: Create Gantt charts with your data
  • Purechat: Integrate your Live chat
  • Timeify: Record and track time for your items
  • Trello: The Zapier integration for Trello allows you to sync items and cards between Axosoft and Trello
  • Toggl: Time Tracker
  • Usersnap: Get screenshots and bug reports to your Axosoft projects

Axosoft – the better JIRA alternative?

Well, there’s some content on the web discussing the topic of Axosoft vs JIRA. I guess from an objective standpoint it’s hard to say. Team and project requirement differ from organization to organization and one might find JIRA more usable, others might prefer Axosoft.

But one thing for sure: If you’re planning to migrate your projects from JIRA to Axosoft, I’d recommend to check out this migration tool.

Wrapping it up.

In this blog post, I’ve shown you some easy-to-use integrations and plugins. I also recommend playing around with Axosoft and see how it fits your needs and workflows. There are various other project management tools out there, so when choosing a new one I’d recommend to take a careful and close look.
